How to Set Up AccuRanker and Start Tracking SERP Movements (in Minutes)
Follow these five easy steps to set up AccuRanker and start tracking your keywords.
Step #1 - Sign up for a 14-day free trial
To start, create a new account (aff) by filling in your email address:
Then verify your email address, by clicking the confirmation link in the email:
Next, you’ll need to fill in the required details and click on the Start Trial button:
Step #2 - Add a group
Before you can start adding domains and keywords, you have to create a group:
- Select the Groups menu from the left-hand side.
- Click the Add Group button.
- Enter your Group name.
- Click the Save button to confirm.
Groups make it easier to organize your account if you have multiple domains to track.
Step #3 - Add a domain
After you’ve created a group, you can add a domain:
- Select the Domain menu from the left-hand side.
- Click the Add Domain button.
- Enter your domain details.
When you enter your domain Search Engine, you get extra options. For example, if you select Australia, you can then choose:
- Search Engines: Google and/ or Bing
- Devices: Desktop and/ or mobile
- Google Settings (Local Pack, Featured Snippet, Autocorrect)
After you’ve added a locale you can complete the remaining fields such as your group, and then click Save:
You can add as many default search locales as you wish, and you can always change this when adding keywords.
Step #4 - Add your keywords
Option A - When you’ve added a domain in Step #3, a window appears where you can start adding your keywords:
Option B - If you added a domain previously, but didn’t add any keywords straight away, then click on your Domain, go into the Keywords tab, and click the Add Keywords button:
You now have four options to enter your keywords:
- Enter keywords manually
- Use keyword suggestions
- Import keywords from Google Search Console
- Import keywords from CSV
The Keyword Suggestions feature is really handy. For example, if you enter the keyword “rank tracking tool” AccuRanker suggests related keywords, such as: seo rank tracking tools, free rank tracking tools, keyword rank tracking tools.
Note: AccuRanker recommends integrating your Google Search Console account with AccuRanker to save time importing keywords.
5. On the right-hand side, you have the locale you created in your domain.
You can add more locales if you want to track across different search engines, languages, locations, even down to the local business or postcode level.

13 Practical Ways to Use AccuRanker
In this section, we’ll go across the top of the dashboard and examine the features and key insights that each part of the tool provides.
Rather than just show the highest value features, we're going to look at how you can extract practical insights from each one.
The Dashboard gives you a high-level view of each domain you’re tracking, including:
- Number of Keywords
- Average Rank
- Share of Voice
- Ranking Distribution
You can click the heading in each column to sort from highest to lowest, and vice versa.
If you click on any domain from the list, you’ll go into the Domains Overview dashboard, where you can see more details.
Let’s take a look at each one.
Use Share of Voice to assess market performance
The Share Of Voice (SoV) metric is unique to AccuRanker. It combines monthly searches with your rankings, so you can see how keywords are performing in the SERPs.
The SoV is the first result you’ll see in the Domains Overview tab:
At the top, you can see trend graphs for your desktop and mobile keywords. (You have the option to switch trend graphs on and off for devices and competitors.)
Underneath are three pie charts:
- Share of Voice Competitors – Shows both you and your competitors’ SoV, plus the untracked SoV.
- Share of Voice Tags – Displays SoV data for all your tags.
- Share of Voice Landing Pages – Shows SoV figures for the combined total of keywords pointing to your Landing Pages.
Editor's note: You can compare the SoV percentage against competitors. It shows you and your competitor's share of the market, and potential available across different keyword sets.
For example, see how your business or clients compare to competitors across top-funnel or bottom-funnel topics to identify the biggest gaps and highest value opportunities.
Analyze ranking distribution
The Ranking Distribution shows your keywords across six different levels:
- Not ranking
The distribution lets you see if keywords within these ranges are going up or down.
You can also click on the ranges to switch each one on and off as you wish. For example, you could check keywords in the 4-10 range to spot any “low hanging fruit” opportunities.
From this graph, you can click on a date and drill deeper to see which keywords are included:
Monitor average rankings across your entire keyword set
Average Ranking takes all of your keywords that are ranked in the system, and calculates their average ranking over time:
You can compare ranking data across different time ranges by clicking “Compare to” in the top right-hand corner of the Overview dashboard and selecting intervals:
Average Ranking is not as good as the SoV metric (highlighted above) as it only uses keywords that are ranked in the Top 100 in Google, Bing, Baidu, and Yandex.
We have two keywords:
- Keyword 1 is ranked #1
- Keyword 2 is ranked #200
The average ranking would be 1 since keyword 2 is outside the Top 100.
- Keyword 1 is ranked #1
- Keyword 2 is ranked #100
The average ranking would now be 50 because keyword 2 is inside the Top 100.
Identify your top direct competitors
The Top Competitors report shows the Top 10 competitors for all of your keywords:
The graphs use a ‘weight’ system to give you an idea of who is most visible in the top rankings for your target keywords. Weighting points are awarded by:
- Rank 1 = 10 Points
- Rank 2 = 9 Points
- Rank 3 = 8 Points
- Rank 4 = 7 Points
- Rank 5 = 6 Points
- Rank 6 = 5 Points
- Rank 7 = 4 Points
- Rank 8 = 3 Points
- Rank 9 = 2 Points
- Rank 10 = 1 Point
For example, if you hover over Rank 1, you can see how many points you and your competitors have for the top-ranking position:
Get notified about important rank changes
Automatic notifications are generated for big or significant movements on star-marked keywords.
For example, a keyword moving from rank 2 to 1 is a significant change, and will generate a notification. But a move from 75 to 150 is not considered a significant change, and you will not receive a notification.
You can see how many notifications you have for each domain in the Dashboard view.
Click on the notification to jump into the overview and see the specific changes.
Notifications can help you identify any wins or losses that require immediate attention.
Next, along from the Domain Overview tab is the Keywords tab where you can segment the data with a large list of data points:
- Device: Desktop or Mobile
- Search Engine: Google or Bing
- Local results (great for local search campaign tracking)
- Change in Rank
- Searches: Average monthly search volume
- SoV: Share Of Voice for the keyword
- Change in SoV
- SERP Features: Search Engine Results Page
- Created On: Date you added the keyword
- Age: When the data was last updated
Let’s see how you can use this data.
Identify your “quick win” keyword targets
You can use the Rank Range to find your “quick win” high-value keyword targets.
For example: I'd filter the keyword set to only show terms ranking in positions 5-15 on desktop devices, that also have the "best" tag (important for affiliate monetization):
AccuRanker allows you to save time by saving filters. So, if I am regularly checking desktop rankings on Google, rather than manually setting those filters every single time, I can instead save it.
Set your filter in the top-left corner:
Then on the right-hand side, click Save Segment:
Analyze historical ranking performance
If you want to analyze the history of a specific keyword, click the keyword you wish to see in the list.
In the popup window, you can see the ranking trends for your URL, as well as your competitors. For example, here you can a competitor (red) is improving while your rank is dropping:
Drill deeper with keyword segments
We already looked at how to filter on a ranking range. But there are loads more filters and segments you can create.
Filtering for Search Volume above X - Helps to identify keywords with high search traffic volumes; e.g above 500:
Filtering for Tags - If you’ve tagged your keywords, you can filter the list to include certain tags; e.g. “best”:
Filtering for SERP features - Find out if some keywords have SERP features; e.g. Thumbnails:
Next along is the Competitors tab where you can see how your SoV and Ranking Distributions are trending compared to your closest competitors.
Are you losing ground? If so, drill down and find out where.
The Landing Pages tab helps you find out which landing pages are driving the most value for your business.
For each page, you can see
- Keywords - The number of keywords that point towards the landing page.
- Search Volume - Combined search volume of these keywords using data from the Google Keyword Planner.
- SoV - Share of Voice for the landing page.
- Cost Value - Combined cost-per-click (CPC) for all keywords. Hover your mouse over this figure to get the average number.
For deeper insights, you should combine data from AccuRanker with Google Analytics:
- Organic Visitors - Amount of organic Visitors to each URL.
- Avg. Time Spent - Average time spent on each URL.
- Avg. Load Time - Average load time for each URL.
- Bounce Rate - The percentage of visitors who navigate away from the URL without visiting more pages.
- Goals - How many times a URL has achieved a goal set by you in Analytics.
- Revenue - How much revenue each URL has generated.
The ability to map conversion and revenue data to keyword sets is a unique feature of AccuRanker. It allows you to directly correlate ranking improvements with your bottom line. This is huge when it comes to justifying client investment in SEO services.
Tagging helps categorize keywords into groups, such as products, services, or even by priorities. For example, I’ve tagged mine by the type of content: tutorial, best (expert roundups, tool lists etc), and reviews (product reviews).

Here’s how to tag your keywords.
In your keywords list, mark the keywords you want to tag and then go to Edit, and select Add tags:
In the popup window, select an existing tag or enter a new tag:
You can also use the Tag Cloud feature to view keywords, aggregate search volume, projected cost, SoV, and other Google Analytics metrics across the different clouds:
The Tag Cloud is a unique feature that can help show how different intent buckets, topics and content types are not only performing from a rankings perspective, but also see how much traffic, conversions, and revenue they are generating for the business.
The Reporting menu opens up loads of possibilities to generate reports with AccuRanker (aff) and third-party sources like Google Analytics, Search Console, HubSpot and Data Studio.

You can use scheduled reports to help you automate the process, saving time and effort when reporting to clients or colleagues.
